We love to spot animals in the wild, and of course try and get a good picture. We saw so many amazing critters on this trip! This is a great place to share some of my favorite pics taken by my boys – Brad and Tristan Morris. I can figure out which is which, but for the most part they are all mixed together at this point.
Yellow Bellied Marmot – also known as a varmint!
Pronghorn – they look a little like Antelope, but are really their own species. That’s a bison in the background.
Female Elk hanging by the side of the road
Bison cause a jam as he cruises the road.
A male and female Bison – the male has a bigger hump
Big Male Elk – check out that rack!
Grizzly from the Grizzly park – no way I’d get this close otherwise. They are mean!
Wolf from the Grizzly and Wolf Park. Beautiful! We saw wolves in the park but from a long distance. Nothing like this.
There were two Big Horn Sheep Rams down a ravine. Hubby swore he was safe. I almost bought it until you realize these guys jump up mountain sides. Geez!
Mom and Baby Grizzly – Thank goodness for Zoom lenses!!
Pelicans
More Bison – so many and so awesome!
Not all the cool critters are big.
We teased that Chip the Chipmunk was on every hike! They did seem to be everywhere and were quite entertaining.
Big Horns are kind of rare to spot and we saw the Rams and this female. She was on a trail where we couldn’t possibly be 25 feet away. We were quiet, and she was all good. This sighting was on Washburn Trail – our favorite for all the adventure we had on it.
Slow and steady. This little guy and me have a lot in common – Ha!
I’m not a fan of Lake Trout. I’m sure they are a lovely animal in a different setting. However, their introduction to this ecosystem threatens everything from the Grizzlies to the Eagles and all the other animals that are in that food chain.

Baby Moose!
Mom and Baby

Momma keeping an eye out!
We don’t have a spectacular picture, but we spent 20 minutes watching this Black Bear forage for berries.
Bald Eagles were relatively common, and majestic EVERY single time we saw them. Wow!
All Creatures Great and Small. This was the smallest we spotted – it’s a baby Dragon Fly.
Deer are common enough for us when we go to Texas, but they are not a common sighting here in Yellowstone. This was on the Jenny Lake trail.
My favorite critters – My Boys and their cameras making memories for a lifetime!
